PURE ICELANDIC PUMICE STONE
Naturally lightweight. Highly porous. Only from Iceland.

Arctic Aggregates brings premium Icelandic pumice to customers seeking a lightweight, durable and naturally porous volcanic aggregate.

Formed by volcanic activity in the Mount Hekla region of Iceland, this remarkable material contains an interconnected pore structure that makes it dramatically lighter than conventional stone aggregate while allowing it to absorb and retain substantial amounts of water.
The result is a versatile natural material that delivers an unusual combination of low weight, high porosity, water retention, aeration and durability.

For horticulture and growing media, Icelandic pumice helps create the balance between air and moisture that healthy root systems require. For green roofs and landscaping, its low density helps reduce dead load while providing a stable mineral structure. In construction applications, pumice can be used as a lightweight aggregate for concrete and mortar. Its porous structure and thermal properties also make it useful in filtration and specialized heat-resistant applications.

Unlike manufactured lightweight aggregates that may require energy-intensive thermal expansion, Hekla pumice is naturally expanded by volcanic activity. After extraction, the material is washed and screened into specified grain sizes.
